His house became famous as the Silver Creek Hotel, —the half-way house between Tecumseh and Jonesville, and where General Brower's line of stages held one of its stations. It was on the banks of Silver creek, the outlet of Silver lake, whose crystal waters bear testimony to the fitness of the name.
