Reminscences of early Michigan History 1800's
The Indians are peculiar for telling stories, and delight in listening to others from the traders. They will lie, smoke and tell stories, which are very long, half the night. When we get camped down with them for the night, a chief, perhaps, or the head of a family, will say, " Well, come, tell a story, " as they call it, art-soo-kay.
