Reminscences of early Michigan History 1800's
Father was paroled, sent to Detroit under charge of British officers; was at Detroit at its surrender by Gen. Wm. Hull, and, with other citizens, was marched through the province to Kingston as prisoner of war. In time they were exchanged. He then visited his family in Concord, Massachusetts, and soon after returned to Detroit to look after his business and property, which he found scattered to the winds. Detroit and the entire frontier had been laid in waste.
