Indian Bread, Extra, Steamed. —Buttermilk, sweet milk and Indian meal, each 3 cups; flour, 2 cups; soda, 2 tea-spoonfuls; salt, 1 tea-spoonful. Mix, put into a greased or buttered pan (as all should be), and steam 3 hours.
Old-Fashioned Indian, or Corn Bread. —This is from Mrs. S. N. Ross, Sparta, O., in Toledo Blade: " The recipe which I have is the nearest to the old Dutch-oven corn bread of anything that can now be baked: Two pt. cups of Indian meal, 1 pt. cup of flour, 2 pt. cups of sweet milk, 1 pt cup of sour milk, % pt. cup of sugar, 1 tea-spoonful of salt, 1 tea-spoonful of soda. Mix, and bake slowly 1% hours. " '
