Sunday, June 26. Several soldiers who passed the night upon the bastion, as usual, reported to the commander they had seen two Indians enter a house, eight arpents away from the fort, to the northeast; and at four o'clock A. m. Capt. Hopkins went out, by order of the commander, with * Translators' Note. —Commencing with this sheet, about one-sixth of each page of the manuscript is missing, being torn oft from the upper outside corner about two-thirds down each sheet. The translators have in nearly all cases succeeded in supplementing the remainder without losing more than occasional words, determining the hour of the day and similar minor details.
