house, placed before them a large bowl of corn and pork. Whilst they were eating they held their guns in their arms. Supposing they only came into trade and that they had their fur at their camp and came to price my goods as was usually the custom, I offered to take charge of'their guns and tomahawk, which was also the custom; but they declined giving them up, as they said they were going right off as soon as they had eaten up what I had placed before them.
