Pioneer Life in Oceana Co.
the first election of county officers was held at Stony Creek, (now Benona) •on the first Monday of April following. The county convention nominated John Barr for sheriff, Amos E,. Wheeler, for treasurer, and Harvey Tower for clerk and register. The remainder of the ticket is not remembered. Charles A. Rosevell aspired to the office of sheriff, and Mal-comb Campbell to that of clerk and register, and vigorously pushed their claims in that direction.
