THE SUFFERING OF SOLDIERS IN EARLY DAYS.

Harrison's official report of the battle of the Thames: "We have suffered greatly for want of provisions, and the whole army have subsisted for three days on raw beef without salt. " And then on this picture: Resolution offered in Hudson by Martin Van Buren, during the war: "Resolved, That the war is impolitic and disastrous, and to employ the militia in an offensive war is unconstitutional.
