LETTERS OF C. AV. BUTTEKFIELD

What say you ? Is it not a case pretty strongly made out ? What I desire to get your opinion about is this: Will the case as it now stands, justify a search in the foreign office in London for a verification? If you think it would, what course in your judgment would be the best to pursue to bring the matter properly and understandingly before the foreign secretary? I shall be obliged to you for any suggestion you may be disposed to make upon that point. Will you be kind enough to give me a list of the books you have, giving an account of Crawford's Expedition ? Very truly yours, etc., G. W. BUTTEKFIELD.
