Petition to the Governor 2
Government, finding the petition from the district of Erie not likely to make much impression on you so as to operate to public good, being of so delicate a texture, hence determine to remain no longer silent. As our rights have imperiously compelled us, so we have viewed and examined their conduct with an impartial eye; we trust, therefore, that altho' we will express our sentiments with Republican freedom and sincerity, we shall not for this reason be taxed with infringing upon the dignity of their official functions
