LETTER FROM GOVERNOR HULL TO JUDGE WETHERELL. 1
Detroit, 25 Feb'ry, 1809.
Judge Wetherell—My highly esteemed friend: —Your letter of this day has excited sensation which I more strongly feel than I can express. The event which has lately taken place and to which-you allude, I can say with sincerity, was unthought of by me. I should have been perfectly satisfied to have remained in my present situation. A great part of my life has been devoted to the service of my country, and the idea of shrinking from any duty to which I am called, is incompatible with my feelings.
