the preparations, and avow them as their own. Most of the young men in this vicinity, respectable by birth, education and property are descending the river. As soon as I am able to ascertain the extent of their equipments, I shall not fail to write you. I settled your account at Cleveland and will give you the receipt on my return. Will not probably set out for Washington in less than five or six days. I am respectfully Fr. Bates.
