Free access was also given to papers and records under his immediate charge, in the care of the secretary, R. I. Perryfather, Esq. Sir Edmund called my attention especially to some Indian records in this department, as throwing much light upon some periods of our history. George Futvoye, Esq., permanent clerk of the Crown Law Department, from whom the Society has received valuable contributions, took especial interest in my inquiries and introduced me to gentlemen connected with the office of Provincial Secretary, where most of the provincial records are kept.
