SOURCES EARLY MICHIGAN HISTORY

In the effort to trace something of the early history of Michigan, I have come across some things which merit some notice. To some of these I will now briefly advert, although they are wholly disconnected. By the treaty of Versailles between France and England, concluded in 1763, the whole of the boundless province of Canada passed to the British crown; of that province Michigan then formed a part. In October of that year the British king issued a royal proclamation, which is very familiar to the American people.
