SOURCES EARLY MICHIGAN HISTORY

I take the liberty of calling the attention of the society to the very great importance of having transcribed many of the records and manuscripts to which I have referred, and such others of value as may be discovered by careful inquiry and research. It is absolutely necessary for the full accomplishment of our organization—the collection and preservation of the materials of our history. I am well aware that we have no funds to appropriate to this purpose, but it is an object well entitled to legislative aid. The expense will be very trifling, and our State pride is deeply
