REMOVAL OF THE STATE CAPITOL FEOM DETROIT.

To the President and Members of the Pioneer Society of the State of Michigan: Having received a communication from your Corresponding Secretary in March last, with an earnest solicitation of the Committee of Historians and the Executive Committee, then in session, that I, with the aid of my brother, B. 0. Williams, furnish a paper for the next annual meeting of your society, to be held in June, on "The removal of the Capitol from Detroit to Lansing," showing all the inside workings of that movement, as I understood them; how it was done; the competing points; their disappointments, and how the school section was saved to the State, etc., I seek to comply.
