In discharging the duties of the chair I have ever endeavored to act unbiased by political or personal prejudice, and, although we have often differed in opinion and action, I assure you that on my part every feeling inconsistent with the warmest regard for each and all of you has vanished with the hour of its birth. We part, I trust, friends, and whatever my future lot, whether in public or private life, through every vicissitude of life, I shall look back to our association here with mingled gratitude and praise. "And now farewell. You have all my fervent wishes for your future welfare and happiness,—and may your return to your respective homes and friends be as joyful as this, our parting, is sad. Once more I bid you one and all an affectionate adieu."
