Lenawee County Probate Judges 1885

He was twice reapointed to this position, holding it for six years. In early life he was a Democrat, but became a Free Soiler in 1848, and made a vigorous canvass of Lenawee county in favor of Van Buren and Adams, the presidential candidates of that party. In 1854 he attended the Jackson convention which organized the Republican party in Michigan, and was one of the vice presidents of that assembly.
