Father Winter

'' They reached the house of Esq. Brown a little before dark, having toiled but six or seven miles during the day. The feet of the children were nearly frozen and so swollen that they put them in hot water before they could get off their stockings. Esquire Brown kindly furnished them with a horse, and the next day they reached the house of Mr. Evans. He had cut the trees from a few acres, around which he had built a log fence, and in the centre a log house.
