Early Detroit
In these changes many present have taken a part; some a prominent one. The production of these changes has developed a true heroism of character, before which that heroism that faces death at cannon's mouth pales its ineffectual fires. The record of these changes, of this heroism, would have been to me a grateful task; but, after much hesitation in selecting between the various subjects that presented themselves, I deemed it peculiarly fitting that on the first celebration of the foundation of our city,
