Early Detroit
" He arrived in Quebec on the eighth day of March, A. D., 1701. He left La Chine, near Montreal, for Detroit, on the 5th day of June, with fifty soldiers and fifty traders and citizens, and on the 24th of July, one hundred and fifty-seven years ago to-day, he landed upon this spot and established the fort.
