discharged my • duty without a protest against the condition of medical and surgical skill ; that will cause or permit the death from a simple dislocation of the shoulder of a strong, vigorous, temperate, healthy man. I know not who was to blame; but if death must, or can, result from such causes, our lives are suspended indeed upon very slender threads. It seems to me, and I well know to many others, that his death was the result of culpable ignorance in those undertaking the reduction of the dislocation.
