During the year 1828 he was in Florida and was engaged in a store at St. Augustine
for a year.
A little over fifty-five years ago he came to Tecumseh, driving two horses and a carriage from Buffalo over the wilderness roads. Three years later he was general manager of all the mail routes and stages which left Detroit. A large and successful business was carried on under his management. The office controlled the routes to Ohio, Pontiac, Ann Arbor, and Chicago.
