Jacob Beeson.

Mr. Beeson served as a paymaster in the Black Hawk war, from which service he derived his title as Colonel, by which he was familiarly known in olden times, and for which service he received a bounty land warrant, afterwards located upon land in the Lake Superior mineral region. Upon the organization of Trinity Parish in October, 1834, Jacob Beeson was elected on the first board of vestrymen and was an active and efficient helper in that work fifty years ago. He was a very active and influential man in the organization of the State Government of Michigan, and was a warm and zealous supporter of our first Governor, Stevens T. Mason.
