The Seige of Detriot

Nothing very important occurred between the besiegers and the besieged for some time. Pontiac permitted the French people to visit the citadel for the purpose of saying mass on Sunday, but on other days of the week he suffered none to go there, except Mr. Gouin, Mr. Chovin, and a few others whom he thought secure in his interests and from whom he hoped to gain information of things passing within, from time to time. At length Major Campbell heard that a reinforcement which he expected had been cut off, and he began to despair.
