Conspiracy of Pontiac
The Seige of Detriot
Soon after the commencement of the siege, Pontiac directed Thomas Gouin, the father of the narrator, to go to Mr. Bouquette, the Catholic Priest, and demand of him, if God would prevent him (Pontiac) from gaining the contest in case, he should set fire, by means of an arrrow attached to some punk and tow, to the French church, which was situated nearer the pickets inclosing the fort than any other building, and the burning of which would have given them an entrance.
Mr. Gouin, without going to the Priest, told Pontiac that God would be highly offended at such a step, and it was thereupon relinquished.
