Coming to Michigan

Again feeling secure and being quite exhausted, we retired for the night. In the morning we awakened to behold before us the grand old harbor of Detroit, and on the dock my husband. There was great rejoicing then, and in a few hours we took our departure from the boat. We next set about preparing for our journey to our future home. Enough provisions were secured before leaving Detroit to last, at least, two years. We loaded one barrel of flour on our wagon and shipped the rest of our provisions around the lakes, so that they would come to us by the way of Grand Rapids. The provisions that we loaded on our wagon we thought would last us to the end of our journey.
