THE PIONEERS OF BELLEVUE
In the year 1845 there was a Methodist minister in Bellevue by the name
of Reynolds, a very clever man and also quite a talented preacher. Rey
nolds and Mr. R. J. Grant, then a resident of Bellevue, went one day down
to a swamp near Mr. Ackley's, in the town of Convis. and found the whor
tleberries very large and plenty, so much so, that they loaded their vehicle
in a short time. On their return to Bellevue it was noticed that they had met with exceedingly good success; but nobody could ascertain from them where this wonderful swamp was located.
