so I kept on until near midnight, when a wolf howled, then another, and they kept increasing until it seemed to me that I was surrounded by at least twenty. Some of them came so near that I could plainly hear the rustling of the leaves and brush through which they traveled. Finally, I heard a dog bark, and soon after saw a light.
