EARLY JESUITS OF MICHIGAN.

His cultivated mind, his refined taste, his warm and genial nature, his tender love for the souls in his charge, his calm and immovable courage in every hour of danger, his cheerful submission to the bitter privations and keen sufferings of the missionary life, his important discoveries, his devotion to truth, his Catholic faith, and last, but not least, his early, calm, joy ous and heroic death, all entitle him to that high place in the regard of posterity which he has been slowly but surely acquiring.
