EARLY JESUITS OF MICHIGAN.
The French government scarcely deemed the colony of sufficient value to make an effort for its recovery, but the councils of the enlightened Champlain prevailed, and Canada was restored to France by the Peace of St. Germain in 1632. In 1633 Champlain returned to Quebec, to resume his government, and with him came Brebeuf and one other Jesuit.
